Position Title: Communication & Program Officer
Reports To: Program Manager/Project Manager
Location: Based in Dhaka with frequent field visits
Job Type: Full-Time, contractual up to June 2027
Job Summary
The Communication & Program Officer will play the key role in planning and execution of communication initiatives by developing compelling digital content, managing social media platforms, and promoting organizational visibility across multiple channels. The role is responsible for creating impactful stories and multimedia content, coordinating communication for projects and events, maintaining websites and digital platforms, monitoring communication performance, and ensuring compliance with organizational branding and donor visibility guidelines. Working closely with project teams and external stakeholders, the incumbent will strengthen public engagement and effectively communicate Dnet’s mission, achievements, and development impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Strategy and Management
- Develop and implement annual and project-specific social media communication plans.
- Manage the organization’s official social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Create and maintain monthly and weekly content calendars.
- Ensure timely publication of high-quality and engaging content.
- Monitor platform performance and recommend improvements to increase audience reach and engagement.
- Maintain consistency in messaging, branding, and organizational identity across all digital channels.
- Content Development
- Collect, write, edit, and publish engaging success stories, social media posts, captions, blogs, newsletters, and website content.
- Develop human-interest stories, project success stories, beneficiary profiles, and impact narratives.
- Produce communication materials highlighting project milestones, events, research findings, and advocacy messages.
- Coordinate the production of photographs, infographics, short videos, reels, animations, and other digital communication materials.
- Ensure all content aligns with organizational communication guidelines and donor visibility requirements.
- Maintain an organized digital archive of communication assets.
- Multimedia Production
- Capture high-quality photographs and videos during project activities and events.
- Coordinate video production, editing, subtitles, and motion graphics.
- Design social media graphics, banners, posters, and promotional materials using graphic design software.
- Campaign Planning and Execution
- Plan and execute digital awareness campaigns related to organizational priorities and project objectives.
- Develop campaign concepts, hashtags, key messages, and promotional materials.
- Coordinate online observance of national and international days relevant to organizational themes.
- Support advocacy and public awareness initiatives through digital storytelling.
- Website and Digital Platforms
- Update organizational and project websites with news, publications, event summaries, and multimedia content.
- Coordinate with technical teams to improve website content and user experience.
- Ensure information on digital platforms remains accurate and up to date.
- Monitoring, Analytics, and Reporting
- Monitor social media performance using platform analytics and other digital monitoring tools.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reach, impressions, engagement, click-through rates, follower growth, and conversions.
- Analyze audience behavior and recommend strategies to improve digital engagement.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Respond to inquiries and comments received through social media channels in a timely and professional manner.
- Build relationships with online communities, partners, influencers, media representatives, and relevant stakeholders.
- Promote collaboration with project teams to collect communication materials from field activities.
- Coordinate with implementing partners to ensure consistent branding and communication.
- Event Communication
- Develop communication plans for workshops, training sessions, conferences, and public events.
- Prepare post-event summaries, photo albums, videos, and media highlights.
- Coordinate photography, videography, and media documentation.
- Branding and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with organizational branding and donor visibility guidelines.
- Maintain quality standards for all communication products.
- Review and proofread communication materials before publication.
- Ensure ethical use of photographs, videos, and personal stories by obtaining appropriate consent where required.
- Coordination and Administrative Support
- Coordinate with project managers, technical teams, consultants, and external vendors on communication-related activities.
- Support procurement of communication services and materials when necessary.
- Maintain communication documentation, archives, and digital repositories.
- Perform any other communication-related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
- Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the supervisor or management to support the successful implementation and achievement of project outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, Development Studies, English, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum 2–4 years of professional experience in communication, digital media, or social media management.
- Experience working with NGOs, development organizations, UN agencies, or donor-funded projects is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media accounts.
